The remainder of the fourth round matches were expected to be played today due to rain from Hurricane Lee that hit the Gulf Coast and has been working its way north.  Roger Federer must be thrilled that he got his match done quickly last night and that Monaco was in no position to come back in 5 sets.

Today’s play would have seen Isner vs. Simon, Murray vs. Young, Nadal vs. Muller, and Roddick vs. Ferrer.  This really impacts the players in this half of the draw.  They could play their fourth round matches tomorrow.  They would likely play all quarterfinals on Thursday, give the players a day off on Friday, so they could play the semis Saturday and the finals Sunday.  This would force players playing today’s matches to play back to back days.  The schedule works out so no player has to do this except between the semifinals and finals.

Another possibility is to postpone, for the fourth year in a row, the men’s final until Monday.  Then, the quarterfinals would be staggered on Thursday and Friday, the semifinals played Sunday, and the finals played Monday.

It looks like, according to ESPN, they will play the men’s fourth round tomorrow, and play the two quarterfinals as usual.  This would mean playing the other quarterfinals on Thursday, possibly later in the day to maximize the rest.  Ideally, the fourth round would be played as early as possible tomorrow, the first two matches of the day, and the quarterfinals would be played late on Thursday.  This is a huge advantage for Federer and Djokovic who already have their matches out of the way.
