Gil (pictured) over Almagro. I’ll say it again, Frederico Gil the #86 ranked man from Portugal Over one of the best clay courters in the world Nicolas Almagro by a score of 7-6(5)7-6(4). I would gladly pay to see this match. I’ve had the opportunity to see Gil play several times and always thought he was tough… but never would have called this one. I haven’t seen Gil play lately but he must really be stepping it up. WELL DONE SIR
Bellucci d. Ferrero 7-6(5) 1-6 6-3
Acasuso(4) d. Schwank(6) 6-4 6-3
Robredo(2) d. Martin 6-2 6-2
If you like long rallies and hard physical work… watch the Robredo vs. Acasuso match coming up tomorrow. It’s a coin flip in my opinion but I’d be pretty suprised if its not two and a half hours or more and three sets.
With no disrespect to Bellucci and the man of the hour, Gil, whoever wins between Robredo and Acasuso wins the tournament… and they both know it. This will be a battle.
Top Players: Nicolas Almagro(1) , Tommy Robredo, Albert Montanes, Jose Acasuso
Underdog Pick: Fabio Fognini Out of the tournament!
