Nadal d. Dimitrov 7-5 3-6 6-2.
Ok we’ll start at the top of the mountain. Well done Dimitrov taking a set off this man. I’m guessing it’s the only set Nadal will drop on his way to cruising through this tournament. Not that it’s an easy tournament, but more so that Nadal is just in a league of his own right now.
Tsonga d. Tursunov 7-6(6) 6-2
Murray d. Seppi 7-6(4) 7-5
The only two men with a chance at Nadal advance keeping some interest in this tournament.
Up Next:
Nadal vs. Tsonga – I’ll give Tsonga a 20% chance to win. I like his fight and effort, but is he ready to knock off Nadal? I don’t think so.
Murray vs. Gicquel – Murray is a massive favorite, but who knows he may just up and quit or hurt a pinky and retire…
Ancic vs. Youzhny – I’m giving the edge to Ancic, I like the way their styles match up… I think this would be a great match to watch, and I think Ancic comes out on top in a battle.
Benneteau vs. Monfils – Everybody thinks and expects Monfils to be joining the elite very soon. To do that, matches like this in the quarters against #50 in the world have to be automatic. I pick Monfils, but I’m not really convinced he’s taken that next step yet.
If you simply add Federer into this draw the quarter finals have the same quality tennis as any of the majors. Great stuff here!
