Cutie pie, Patty Schnyder advanced to the finals of the Bangalore Open with a 2-set victory on Saturday over Zi Yan, 6-3, 6-4. Patty broke serve twice in both sets, while losing her own serve once in the 2nd set, for a relatively easy win.
Zi Yan had been referred to as a giant-killer, having knocked off top seed Jelena Jankovic and 8th seed cutie pie Maria Kirilenko to reach the semi-finals in this tournament. So Patty apparently is the killer of the giant-killer, and my latest prediction that Patty would reach the finals came true.
Meanwhile, 3rd seed, Serena Williams, played a hard-fought 3-set match against her sister, 2nd-seed Venus Williams. Serena came out on top 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4). Patty and Serena will now meet in the final match on Sunday.
I’m guessing Serena will be all tired out from her 3-set match in the semi-finals, while Patty, who was toughened up by her two previous 3-set matches, had a much easier 2-set match to get into the finals. So I’m again pulling for cutie pie, Patty Schnyder, predicting she will bring home the trophy (1st place of course!). Go cutie pie!
