This picture pretty much tells the story. The upset bug had no regard for the cute tuxedo outfit and bit hard, and taking a big chunk out of Russian cutie pie,Maria Sharapova. Maria lost in straight sets, 2-6, 4-6.
The match pitted two Russians against each other, the world ranked # 2 player and # 154. It should not even have been a match. But Kudryavtseva played the match of her life, and Maria just wasn’t there. Maria’s serve let her down, which seems to affect the rest of her game. She just never got into the match.
In the picture, the dejected look, the slumping shoulders, the bowed head all tell the story. It was not Maria’s day.
