Cutie pie Maria Kirilenko has bowed out of the French Open. It was an early exit for the 21st seed.
Maria won an easy first match against 94th ranked Maria Elena Camerin of Italy 6-1, 6-0. She then lost a tough 3-set match to 200th ranked Jie Zheng of China, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.
I’m sure Maria is disappointed to have lost that match. Being ranked 23rd in the world, she would be expected to win against the 200th ranked player. But matches don’t always go according to rankings. That’s why everyone has to play their matches.
Maybe Wimbledon will treat her better.
