No. 26 seed, Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia, routed No. 3 seed, Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, 6-1, 6-2, in round three of the 2012 French Open.
Agnieszka didn’t look anything like the player who overwhelmed seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams of the USA in straight sets just two days earlier.
Agnieszka has been having a great year on tour, winning three titles and moving up to a career-high No. 3 ranking last month. Before Friday’s match, Agnieszka had been 38-7 in 2012, with six of those losses coming against top-ranked Victoria Azarenka At the same time, she is the only player in the top 10 who has never reached a Grand Slam semifinal.
Svetlana, who also won the U.S. Open in 2004, has struggled since winning the title at Roland Garros three years ago, only reaching one Grand Slam quarterfinal.
It was Svetlana’s sixth straight win over Agnieszka, raising Sveta’s career record against Aga to 10-3. It looks like Sveta has Aga’s number.
