Maria Kirilenko, a tennis cutie pie from Russia, was beaten out of the WTA Generali Ladies Linz tournament played in Linz, Austria Oct 20-26.
Maria Kirilenko won her first round against No. 81 ranked Olga Savchuk of the Ukraine, 6-2, 7-5. She then fell to No. 19 ranked Alize Cornet of France in a see-saw 3-set match 6-1, 2-6, 1-6. Do great the 1st set, then fall flat the last two sets. I call that see-saw.
See-saw has been the name of the game for No. 30 ranked Kirilenko. Starting with the Pilot Pen Tournament Aug. 17-23, Kirilenko didn’t win a match for three tournaments. Then she won the WTA Tour Hansol Korea Open. Following that great win, she lost the first match of two more tournaments, then has been beaten out in the 2nd round in her last two tournaments. That’s see-saw, up-and-down if I ever saw it. Hopefully she can settle her game down for the next season.
