Elena Dementieva of Russia has set up a rematch of the Olympic final with fellow Russian Dinara Safina. They are meeting in the championship match of the 2009 Medibank International in Sydney, Australia.
Dementieva reached the final with an impressive straight-sets win over the No. 1 seed, Serena Williams, 6-3, 6-1.
In the Olympic final, Dementieva defeated Safina in a close 3-set match, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. It should be an interesting rematch as both players prepare for the Australian Open beginning next week.
