No. 1 seed, Victoria Azarenka is among those reaching the Semifinals at the 2013 Australian Open.
Joining her are No. 2 seed, Maria Sharapove, No. 6 seed, Li Na, and No. 29 seed, Sloane Stephens.
Azarenka defeated unseeded Svetlana Kuznetsova 7-5, 6-1 in the Quarterfinals. She will face Stephens who upset No. 3 seed, Serena Williams in a close Quarterfinal match.
Sharapova easily took care of No. 19 seed, Ekaterina Makarova 6-2, 6-2 in the Quarterfinals, setting another Australian Open record by losing only nine games through five rounds. She will face No. 6 seed, Li Na who upset No. 4 seed, Agnieszka Radwanska 7-5, 6-3.
The Semifinals should provide some great matches. I give the edge to Sharapova over Li. It seems no one can touch her right now. And I would pick Azarenka over Stephens. I think Azarenka’s experience will be the deciding factor.
