Russian cutie pie, Elena Dementieva, reached the fourth round of the WTA Sony Ericsson Open being played in Miami, Florida, USA March 25-April 4.
No. 4 ranked Dementieva had a BYE in the first round. In round two, she faced fellow Russian, Anastasia Pivovarova, coming out on top in a 3-set see-saw match, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. Dementieva had an easy 2-set win over No. 32 ranked Carla Saurez-Navarro of Spain, 6-2, 6-2 in the third round.
The fourth round brought her up against No. 12 ranked cutie pie, Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. Wozniacki was the winner 7-5, 6-4, knocking Dementieva out of the tournament.
Dementieva is now 21-4 on the season, which means she has been playing well to have won 21 matches already this year. Through seven tournaments, she has reached at least the quarterfinals in all but two of them. She has made the finals three times, winning two of those. That’s not a bad record for the year. Keep it up, Elena!
