Russian cutie pie, Elena Dementieva, has advanced to the final of the WTA ASB Classic being held in Auckland, New Zealand January 5-11. She will face No. 76 ranked Elena Vesnina of the Ukraine in the championship match.
Dementieva, the 1st seed in the tournament, was pushed to 7-5 in her first set, but then did not allowed an opponent more than three games in a set through the first four matches in this tournament. In other words, all matches have been rather easy straight set wins.
Dementieva’s victims were Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei (7-5, 6-3), Marina Erakovic of Croatia (6-2, 6-3), Sharhar Peer from Israel (6-3, 6-1), and Aravane Rezai of France (6-2, 6-2).
Go Elena. Just one more win for the championship!
