Serbian cutie pie, Ana Ivanovic, has been ousted from the 2008 WTA Rogers Cup currently under way in Montreal, Canada July 28-Aug 3.
Following a 1st round BYE, Ana defeated 64th ranked Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic in a close 3-set match, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. She then played 94th ranked Tamira Paszek from Austria. Ana, currently ranked # 1 in the world, must have been worn out from her previous 3-setter. She lost this match in another 3-sets, 2-6, 6-1, 2-6.
Ana will have to do better, or # 2 ranked Jelena Jankovic is going to take away the # 1 spot from her. Jankovic made it one round further in this tournament than Ana, losing in the Quarterfinals. We’ll see what this does to the rankings next week.
