Today, most of the top 16 seeds played, and 12 of the top 13 seeds advanced.  The toughest match for a seed that won was probably Andy Murray’s win over David Nalbandian.  The two last met at Toronto when Nalbandian was particularly hot.  Since then, Nalbandian has not played as well.  Even so, Murray dropped the first set rather easily before coming back to win in 3 sets.

Roger Federer is the top seed at the BNP Paribas Masters, with Rafael Nadal resting his shoulder.  He faced Richard Gasquet and won 6-4, 6-4.  Gulbis upset Mikhail Youzhny, the 9th seed.  Almagro, the 14th seed, lost to Stepanek.  Ljubicic, the 15th seed, lost to Wawrinka.  Isner, the 16th seed, lost to Llodra.

David Ferrer had the toughest match, winning against Fognini, 7-6 in the third.  Djokovic is the defending champ.
