Rotterdam feb. 14th
And we’re coming down the home stretch now… so lets review
Nadal d. Tsonga 6-4 6-7(5) 6-4
You can go ahead and say I’m behind the times on this one.. but I’m starting to come around on Tsonga. Since he first started making a splash I thought he had some serious potential but didn’t know how far he’d take it… and judging by this result (despite the loss) it appears he’s taking it far. Tsonga won the Johannesburg ATP last week, but had a cake draw. That being said, he rolled over all of his opponents like he should, and now this tight with the world #1… its impressive.
Monfils d. Benneteau 7-6(4) 6-1
Good job Monfils, but I think your going to run into a guy in the next round in Mr. Nadal that does what you do, better… and more consistently. Monfils is going to have to really step up the forehand and flatten her out a bit more than normal and hope he pulls off a pretty enormous upset… but hey if Gil can beat Almagro, it could happen right? I take Nadal in straights.
Murray d. Gicquel 7-6(2) 2-6 3-0 ret.
I don’t know what happened, but I hate retirements. I won’t go into that in depth right now but it’s something that I have never done in all my years of competing, nor will I ever. Anyway, Murray moves on.
Ancic d. Youzhny 6-4 6-2
The result isn’t to suprising but the score disparity is. I like Ancic and would prefer he beats Murray but I don’t see it happening. I’ll pick Murray in straights in the next round.
Top Players: Nadal, Murray, Davydenko, Ferrer.
Underdog pick: Tsonga (still alive… for now..)
