The top half of the draw played yesterday.  Djokovic apparently has several Facebook accounts, one of which may not be accurate.  In one, he said he was dropping out of Indian Wells and heading to Miami.  In the other (and apparently, the official one), he was ready to head to court.   And that he did.  Although Kevin Anderson recently won a title at Delray Beach and has moved his ranking up, he’s still (not surprisingly) ready to trouble the world number one.  Routine 62 63 win.

Djokovic’s draw should have left him meeting Florian Mayer or Richard Gasquet, but both were eliminated by Spaniards.  Thus, Djokovic meets Pablo Andujar in the fourth round.  Andujar beat Albert Ramos in two close sets in the third round.  Djokovic is expected to get past Andujar.

Nicolas Almagro struggled to another three set win with a victory over Santiago Giraldo.  He’ll face Tomas Berdych who was pushed to three sets by Andy Roddick.  Roddick leads their head-to-head, 6-3, but clearly Roddick was struggling with his movement.  Any time Berdych hit an inside-in forehand down the line and forced Roddick to move to his right, Roddick was unable to accelerate and had to pull up short.  Berdych should be favored.

Although Garcia-Lopez beat Murray, he wasn’t ready to beat Ryan Harrison, who won 64, 75 and is having a very solid tournament.  He’ll face the ultra-steady, Gilles Simon, next round.  Simon beat Wawrinka in two close sets.

John Isner won over Juan Monaco, 75 75.  He faces Matthew Ebden who upset Mardy Fish.  Fish hasn’t played that well this year.  There was a controversial call near the end of the match when the umpire called Fish for interference which was reminiscent of Serena getting upset about her yell during the finals against Sam Stosur.  Fish was not happy.  He asked if the umpire believed 100% that his opponent could really have done anything with the shot.  Although Fish sometimes comes across as a pretty chill guy, he’s more similar in temperament to Roddick, who’ll get surly when he gets calls he disagrees with.

Today, the bottom half of the draw plays including Federer, del Potro, and Nadal.  The intriguing match is Federer vs. Raonic.  Raonic has been serving big this tournament, but still seems like a pretty raw hitter.
