Maria SharapovaOn Sunday at Indian Wells, Maria Sharapova showed a dominating performance to take the title over Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-2 in the 2013 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

Maria not only dominated the final, she dominated the entire tournament, breezing through without dropping a set. She encountered only one tie-break, against No. 6 seed, Sara Errani which she won 10-8. Other than a couple 7-5 sets, no one challenged her very much. She showed a great deal of overall skill, and more importantly, consistency. She served incredibly well, and in the finals, she barely allowed Wozniacki an opportunity to break.

This seemed impossible for one of the best up-and-coming players as of a few years ago. The Russian won the Australian Open in 2008 to continue a run that featured eight tournament wins in 2007. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury and ensuing rehab slowed her success rate.

From 2009-12, Sharapova only won eight tournaments combined. However, it finally seems like she is back to original form.

Now ranked No. 2, Maria was the 2006 Indian Wells champion as well.
